Location:        Thirsk or Harewood Whin, York

Contract:        Full time, Permanent. 5 days over 7, 40 hours per week.

Salary:            £28,000 to £30,000 per year, plus company van.

 

About You

Are you a supportive leader, capable of planning and communicating with a team of professionals to deliver exceptional service delivery? We are looking for that person to motivate, as well as provide focus and clear goals to our transport team.

Working with the Transport Manager, you will help to develop personal and team growth opportunities, and be that support to encourage and promote the delivery of a fantastic customer experience at Yorwaste.

As a supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring job expectations are clearly communicated and monitored within the team, as well as providing appraisals, coaching and support for the team. It is important that you have a good understanding of systems, policies, procedures and productivity standards to be able to monitor their adherence in the transport department.

You will be a hands-on supervisor with great organisational skills, a ‘lead by example’ approach, and great attention to detail.  You will have good experience of using all Microsoft Office IT programs, as well as ideally having experience in the use of logistics and waste management systems. These can include FTA Vision and PurGo.

Previous experience of transport & logistics or waste management, along with supervisory responsibilities, would be a real advantage for this role.

This is subject to manager discretion, and can be discussed at the point of being successful.

 

Qualifications and Knowledge

It is essential that the successful candidate;

  • Proven experience of leadership and supervision of a team, including performance reviews, appraisals and coaching.
  • Have great communication skills, and work well with people in a team.
  • Can demonstrate a high level of IT competency.
  • Focuses on delivering an excellent customer experience.
  • Strong organisational skills and great time management capabilities.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of compliance, particularly in relation to transport services.
  • Have appreciation of the complexities of a multi-functional operation, in a diverse and multi-skilled workforce.
  • Have awareness of health and safety legislation and requirements
  • Be willing to attend an FTA Operator Awareness course every three years.
