Working in partnership with City of York Council and North Yorkshire County Council Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs), and various charity partners including, The Recycle Project CIC, Get Cycling CIC, Resurrection Bikes and No Wrong Door – we run annual community-focused campaigns with the aim of driving positive social and environmental change within North Yorkshire.
Find out about each community campaign we run below, and see how you can get involved yourself:
GET reCYCLING Campaign
We all know that cycling is good for our health and wellbeing, it’s kind to the environment and can be great fun. But a sad fact is there are many redundant bicycles sat in sheds, garages and back yards, loved at one time but no longer used.
Maybe a bike has been outgrown and no longer suits its rider. Or perhaps it’s had a tyre puncture or some other defect that you never got round to repairing. Well, if it’s not going to get used, get it re-used!
Yorwaste’s GET reCYCLING Campaign aims to encourage the reuse and recycling of pre-loved bikes.

The Reuse Santa Appeal
It has been a difficult year for all this year, the Reuse Santa appeal has been brought back to help those young people across North Yorkshire who are most in need this Christmas.
Not only will this help make Christmas easier for many families, it also helps the environment by encouraging the ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ initiative – allowing for less waste to be taken to landfill.
With the help of City of York Council, North Yorkshire County Council and our friends at No Wrong Door, we hope to reduce the amount of young people who will go without a gift this Christmas.
