Benefits include:

  • Career Growth: Comprehensive training, support, and development opportunities.

The Role:

In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the quality and quantity of materials separated for recycling. Responsibilities include planning and organising on-site activities, serving as the representative of Yorwaste for visitors, and occasionally stepping into leadership duties as required. It is important that you have a good level of written communication to complete forms and reports with accuracy and detail.

As a Yorwaste Operative, your day-to-day duties will vary, and may include the following;

  • Helping the public use the site in a safe manner, adhering to all Health and Safety guidance.
  • Providing friendly, informative and professional customer service.
  • Protecting yourself, your team, and the public, by promoting high standards of health and safety.
  • Safely operating equipment and machinery, reporting any faults and issues.
  • Using our IT system to create reports and record general site details.

It would be an advantage to have reliable personal transportation to our site, which is not accessible by public transport. There may be occasions when you are required to travel to other Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) sites for additional support. This role requires working outdoors, so being comfortable with varying weather conditions is important.

This is a permanent role working 5 days out of 7. As our site operates 6 days a week, including bank holidays (closed on Wednesdays), flexibility in your availability within this schedule is essential. You will also be expected to cover holidays and sickness as necessary, including additional hours and shifts to support this and other local HWRC sites.
