Yorwaste are excited to welcome a hands-on and well-organised individual, with a keen eye for detail, and strong problem-solving abilities, to join our dynamic transport team as a Transport Planner.
- A salary of £25,000 to £29,712 per year
- Plus on-target earnings of up to £6,000 annually
- Plus a £1,000 annual on-call allowance
- Permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
- York (Harewood Whin) or Thirsk, North Yorkshire

As a Transport Planner at Yorwaste, your main role will be to ensure services are delivered efficiently in your area. You’ll work closely with planners, drivers, customer service advisors, and the wider transport team to provide a service that’s customer-focused, cost-effective, and fully compliant.
We’re looking for someone with strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office and waste management systems. A positive attitude and a logical approach will help you tackle everyday challenges with ease.

Essential Criteria:
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Able to communicate and give instructions in a calm, reassuring manner
- Willingness to learn, develop, and work collaboratively
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-functional operations and a diverse workforce
- Ability to understand and follow Health and Safety legislation and policies
- Willingness to attend an FTA Operator Awareness course every three years
The successful candidate will be based at either our Thirsk or York transport offices, so we welcome applicants from both areas. As our sites are not easily accessible by public transport, having a driving licence and personal vehicle will be an advantage.
