Salary: Starting at £28,292.38, up to £34,292 per year with on-target earnings

Contract: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours’ per week

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am until 5:00pm

Benefits: 20 days’ holiday, increasing to 25 days’ with continuous service, plus bank holidays, pension, store discounts, plus additional £1,000 on-call annual allowance

Location: Thirsk or York (Harewood Whin), North Yorkshire

You will be hands-on with great organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.  Being able to demonstrate good experience of using all Microsoft Office IT programs is important, as well as ideally having experience in the use of logistics and waste management systems (these may include FTA Vision and PurGo).

Based at our Thirsk or Harewood Whin (York) site, you will be responsible for ensuring that services in your allocated area are delivered in the most profitable and efficient way possible. Working alongside other planners, customer services advisors, as well as the transport and driver team, you will deliver a customer focused, cost efficient and compliant service for the business.

As Transport Planner you will learn all mode types here at Yorwaste, including Bulk Haulage, Hooklift and Skips as well as Recycling Collection Vehicles. Previous experience of transport & logistics or waste management would be a real advantage for this role.

It is essential that the successful candidate;

  • Can demonstrate a high level of IT competency.
  • Focuses on delivering an excellent customer experience.
  • Strong organisational skills and great time management capabilities.
  • Demonstrate understanding of compliance in relation to all transport related services or the enthusiasm to learn.
  • Have appreciation, or developing awareness, of the complexities of a multi-functional operation and a diverse and multi-skilled workforce.
  • Have awareness of health and safety legislation and requirements.
  • Be willing and able to attend an FTA Operator Awareness course every three years.

Our Offer

We are offering a salary starting at £28,292.38 per year, up to £34,292 per year with on target earnings, on a full-time, permanent contract. You will receive 20 days’ holiday per year, plus bank holidays, increasing annually (1 day per years’ service completed) to 25 days’ after 5 years’ continuing employment. This is a permanent position, working full-time with the option for additional annual on-call payment of £1,000 for one morning and evening per week.
