Salary: £35,000 to £39,000 per year

Yorwaste are proud to welcome a Senior Health, Safety, and Environmental Advisor into the team to play a critical role in providing essential support to operations across a wide network of waste management sites throughout Yorkshire.
As the Senior HSE Advisor, you will be ensuring that health and safety remains the number one priority for all individuals working within the Yorwaste business, fostering a positive HSE culture. Reporting directly to the Head of Risk Management as a key member of the Risk Management team, you will be instrumental in driving significant improvements in the HSE culture, as well as contributing significantly to the development and effective implementation of the HSE Improvement Strategy.

We are seeking an individual who is organised, confident, and highly motivated. Your hands-on experience in delivering health and safety improvements, ideally in a similar working environment with multiple site operations, will be crucial to your success. Given the nature of the role, significant travel throughout North Yorkshire is required, making your proactive and self-starting attitude essential for independent work.
Excellent communication skills will play a vital role in building strong relationships with personnel at all levels within the organization and external stakeholders. Any previous experience in delivering staff briefings and training will be a definite advantage, showcasing your ability to effectively convey information and knowledge.
You will support management by identifying, assessing, and controlling significant health, safety, and environmental risks while developing practical solutions to resolve issues. Additionally, you will play a key role in closely monitoring and reporting on the HSE performance across the business. You will actively participate in meetings with senior managers to discuss health and safety topics and deliver staff briefings when necessary.
It is essential that the successful candidate have;
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Working knowledge of the UK Health and Safety Legislation
- Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working in a front-line health and safety management role with direct employee engagement
- Confidence conducting health and safety audits, inspections and incident investigations, as well as delivering training materials to employees at all levels

Our Offer
We are offering a salary of up to £39,000 per year depending on experience, on a full-time, permanent contract. You will receive 23 days’ holiday per year, plus bank holidays, up to 28 days’ with continuing employment.
