We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join the Corporate Services Team at Yorwaste.
As a Procurement Specialist, you play a pivotal role in driving value and compliance across the business. You’ll lead end-to-end procurement activities, from tendering and contract negotiation to supplier relationship management, ensuring strategic sourcing aligns with operational needs. By building strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and suppliers, you’ll help improve service delivery, monitor performance, and identify opportunities for innovation. Your expertise ensures adherence to Public Procurement Regulations, supports smooth contract transitions, and maintains accurate procurement data and reporting. With a keen eye for continuous improvement, you’ll contribute to Yorwaste’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
It is essential that the successful candidate have the following;
- In-depth knowledge of Public Procurement Regulations
- Strong grasp of category management and risk management principles
- Skilled in contractual commercial terms and negotiation techniques
- Awareness of external market factors affecting procurement
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated experience in public sector procurement
- Proven ability to deliver complex procurement projects
- Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently
- Experienced in contract management
- Familiarity with ISO standards and quality assurance procedures
We are looking for someone who has the ability to manage their time and workload effectively, working independently and with a degree of autonomy.

What we can offer
We are offering a salary of £35,000 per year, on a full-time, permanent contract. We can offer 24 days’ holiday per year, plus bank holidays, increasing annually (1 day per years’ service completed) to 28 days’ after 4 years’ continuing employment.
