As a procurement officer at Yorwaste, you will be responsible for delivering cost-effective procurement solutions across the business, including developing and implementing procurement strategies. You will know how to deliver and manage complex projects and be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills within a multi-faceted organisation.
You will have great written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with our teams and manage supplier contracts to ensure the best solutions are always achieved for the service. Confident engaging in negotiation and influencing people, you will be able to think on your feet, creating positive face-to-face interactions in a fast-paced working environment.
You will be well organised, demonstrating the ability to prioritise workload and plan ahead, while adhering to strict company and legislative guidelines. Excellent management of Yorwaste’s Contract Register will see you succeed in this role, ensuring all service needs are met efficiently and cost effectively, working to budgets and key performance indicators.
It is essential that the successful candidate have the following;
- UK Drivers Licence, with the ability to reliably travel throughout North Yorkshire
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of Public Procurement Regulations
- Experience of contract and project management
It is desirable that you have CIPS level 4 in Procurement and Supply, or equivalent knowledge, however for the right candidate without this, Yorwaste will be happy to support you through obtaining the required qualifications.

We are offering a salary of between £30,000 and £35,000 per year, dependant on experience, on a full-time, permanent contract. We can offer 23 days’ holiday per year, plus bank holidays, increasing annually (1 day per years’ service completed) to 28 days’ after 5 years’ continuing employment.
