We are looking for a Plant Operative to join our team in Harewood Whin, who wants a hands-on and rewarding job in an industry focused around making our community safer.

Joining Yorwaste as a Plant Operative, you will ensure that all parts of the mobile plant are well maintained, record site information such as hours and fuel, whilst working efficiently for the client and business.

 

You will be practical, motivated, and enthusiastic, working independently on site to ensure a safe and positive working environment. Every day is different, and duties can extend from loading materials, customer service to housekeeping to maintaining a clean site. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across three areas including, Compost, the Transfer Station and MRF.

 

It is essential as a Plant Operative that you hold a current licence for loading shovel and/or 360 tracked excavator, and advantageous if you also have a Drivers Licence. Desirable characteristics would be knowledge of health and safety legislation and procedure, environmental protection policy and the general waste industry operations.

With this role, there will be regular overtime available.

What we can offer

 

In return, we are offering an hourly rate of £14.25 per hour, working a minimum of 40 hours per week. We offer an extra allowance of £20 for working Sundays and £30 for working Bank Holidays, and there may be opportunity for additional hours. We can offer 20 days’ holiday per year, plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days with 5 years continuing employment.

 

This is a permanent role working 40 hours a week over 5 days with regular daily overtime. The working pattern will cover 1 weekend shift per working week, therefore availability over this schedule is important. Working at our Harewood Whin Transfer Station, you may be required to cover holiday, sickness and illness on other nearby sites, therefore holding a driver’s licence and having access to personal transport is an advantage.
