From a simple set up with exceptional customer service as standard. It’s waste management just the way you want it.
With thousands of local businesses on board, from restaurants to retailers, it’s easy to see why Yorwaste is North Yorkshire’s leading waste collection and recycling partner.

General waste we collect goes to Allerton Waste Recovery Park, generating electricity to power 40,000 homes across Yorkshire yearly.
We always encourage our customers to recycle when they can. We aim to push our recycling rate up by diverting more waste from recovery to recycling. Recommended to restaurants, pubs and hotels.
Glass is 100% recyclable and can bea infinitely processed without losing any of its original quality.
Food waste we collect will go through anaerobic digestion – microorganisms can be used to break down your waste organically. It is a greener and more cost-effective solution than general waste recovery.
Our trusty wheelie bins come in many sizes made with recyclable plastic or metal. Lock lids are available.

Our skips and Roll On Roll Offs are for anyone who produces waste in large volumes and helps keep them compact. Helps you save space and minimise disruptions to your location.

One of our friendly team will get in touch to discuss your commercial waste needs and assess how we can help.

For larger businesses, we provide a free waste audit to get a deeper insight into your commercial recycling challenges, identifying which of your waste streams are suitable for recycling.

We deliver dedicated bins to help you separate and store your waste. Then, we begin regular collections at a time and frequency that fits your business.

Your recyclable waste is transported to one of our Material Recycling Facilities in North Yorkshire, where it can be properly processed and treated.

As much of your waste as possible is converted back into raw materials that can be turned into brand-new products.

Finally, we convert any eligible waste into a source of energy through anaerobic digestion, incineration and other recovery processes.
Initially, your waste will be transported to a local waste transfer station. Here, recyclable waste may be separated for onward transport to reprocessors, to be made into new products. Unrecyclable waste will be bulked up for transport to the county’s Energy from Waste facility, to be used as fuel to generate electricity.
We partner with Allerton Waste Recovery Park to ensure as much non-recyclable waste as possible is turned into energy for the local North Yorkshire area. We put the waste hierarchy at the very heart of our business, and do all we can to increase waste reduction, reuse and recycling where possible.
From community initiatives, such as Reuse Santa and Get Re-Cycling, to our team of recycling experts working closely with businesses to help their overall waste management strategies and maximise their recycling efforts.
The energy from recovered waste in Yorkshire currently powers around 40,000 homes in the Yorkshire area. By incinerating non-recyclable waste, we’re able to convert rubbish into energy!
The ash that is produced during this process is also recycled to create materials for the construction industry, further closing the gap in waste production in the Yorkshire area. It’s even estimated that 2.5% of the UK’s energy is powered by recycled materials, so why not join the cause and be an advocate for environmentally friendly waste management?
All schools in England must comply with Simpler Recycling regulations, which means recycling and collection methods need to be in place for all types of recyclable materials.
This includes:
• Food waste (not food packaging)
• Glass (bottles)
• Plastic (bottles, tubs, containers)
• Metal (steel and aluminium tins, foil, cans)
• Paper (sheets, shredded paper, envelopes)
• Cardboard
A waste management solution that’s properly tailored to the needs of your educational institution will come with its own unique cost. This will depend on several factors, including the size of your institution, the amount and types of waste you generate, and any special considerations.
If you have particular needs – for instance, if you have a large chemistry lab that generates hazardous liquid waste or if you need secure waste consoles – we can provide a full site audit that will allow us to give you a realistic cost estimate.
Yorwaste doesn’t only offer regular education waste disposal service, we are also happy to work with you on different school activities.
Even smaller educational institutions can generate large quantities of certain types of waste, such as paper used in classrooms and food waste from on-site canteens. In fact, statistics show that schools across the UK generate approximately 250,000 tonnes of waste every year.
Managing this waste effectively isn’t just important for creating a clean, safe and pleasant educational environment – it’s also fundamental to set an example for students when it comes to disposing of waste in a sustainable manner.
Yorwaste’s dedicated education waste management service is designed to tackle both these issues in one. You’ll benefit from a fully bespoke plan for disposing of your school waste effectively while being able to share with your students the steps we’re taking to put sustainability first.
There are many different ways that educational institutions can increase the amount of waste they recycle, but what’s essential is that your students are fully involved in the process.
In the first instance, that means educating them about the environmental impact of waste and the importance of recycling to protect the planet. It also means ensuring they understand how to recycle effectively, with clear advice on what can or can’t be recycled and how to do so.
Of course, if you want this knowledge and enthusiasm to translate into practice, you need to provide students with the right opportunities. They need easily accessible and properly labelled recycling bins that are emptied regularly, as well as being certain that their efforts will be rewarded once the waste has been collected.
By working with Yorwaste, you can receive support materials and resources to encourage correct recycling habits and improve the recycling rate.
Yorwaste can provide education waste collection services for schools, colleges and universities of all sizes across North Yorkshire. Our locally based operation ensures that you’ll get a responsive and friendly service that truly understands the needs of the regional community. So whether your educational institution is based in York, Harrogate, Selby, or Ripon, get in touch and find out how we can help.
And if you’re based outside of North Yorkshire, please feel free to contact us and see if we can help – in some circumstances, we are able to support schools, colleges or businesses outside of the region with their waste management needs.
