With its heavy legislative burden and an increasing public awareness of the potential impact of waste on the environment, it is vital that the waste management industry can demonstrate its commitment to the environment.

Yorwaste is committed to setting high standards of waste management and co-operating with all parties to ensure that safe and environmentally acceptable practices are implemented for all its activities.

To this end, Yorwaste maintains an Environmental Management System (EMS), accredited to ISO14001, across all its sites. By upholding this standard and continued certification, Yorwaste can demonstrate its commitment to environmental improvement, as stated in its Environmental Policy.

It also publishes, each year, an Environmental Report, which is based on performance indicators developed by the Green Alliance, one of the UK's foremost environmental groups. These indicators are widely accepted as the benchmark for environmental performance.
