The Environment

Yorwaste considers it is essential to maintain the highest standards of environmental performance. The company's environmental policy demonstrates to all stakeholders our commitment to improve continually the way in which we manage our environmental obligations.

Businesses are all under pressure to demonstrate their corporate and social responsibility (CSR) credentials and the way in which waste is handled is integral to any good CSR programme. How organisations behave towards their communities, staff and the wider environment is now high on boardroom agendas. And it's just not major corporations with large shareholder bases that have to give their environmental programme serious scrutiny - small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) are now coming under the spotlight too.

Dealing intelligently with waste is something that companies of all sizes can do today to make an immediate and beneficial environmental impact. Just collecting office waste paper and sending it for recycling is a simple example of this policy in action. Yorwaste is acutely aware of its responsibilities when operating in such an environmentally sensitive.

To this end, Yorwaste maintains an Environmental Management System (EMS) across all its sites. By upholding this standard and continued certification, Yorwaste can demonstrate its commitment to environmental improvement, as stated in its Environmental Policy.

We also publish an Environmental Report, each year, which is based on performance indicators developed by the Green Alliance, one of the UK's foremost environmental groups. These indicators are widely accepted as the benchmark for environmental performance.

Yorwaste is committed to setting high standards of waste management and co-operating with all parties to ensure that safe and environmentally acceptable practices are implemented for all its activities.
